I've added an email address to my Outlook Express that is
only used for family and close friends. Internet
shopping, etc. I use another one.

My questions is, twice in the last couple of weeks I hve
rec'd email from "tom@hotmail.com". I don't know who
this is and he/she is attaching either a worm or viurs
which Road Runner has "cleaned" and deleted for me.

My question is...who is "tom@hotmail.com"? I doubt that
I know him/her. My husband's name is Tom, it is not him.

Thank you for your time and help.

Tom is an innocent hotmail user. His e-mail address has
been spoofed by a mass-mailing worm.
Tom will now receive multiple viruses, because his address
has been displayed on a public forum.

Most likely this is a faked address. Spammers and virus spreaders use common
names and widely popular domain names (like hotmail) to fake a return
address.

To protect yourself, enable hotmail's junk mail protection. The filtering is
excellent at higher levels.

Personally I use the highest level that accepts email only from my address
book or safe list. All other go to junk mail folder that I scan periodically
to see if a new legitimate sender has sent an email.
