hi... i'm wondering if anyone can help me? i have serveral annoying virus',
which are stopping me do day to day tasks, interfere with my internet
connection and drivers. i cant seem to get rid of them via the delete button
or via norton antivirus, i'm wondering if there is anyway i can clear my c:
drive in dos/command prompt and re-install windows xp in dos/command prompt
if i need to but...... i dont know any commands.. can someone please help...
i've been trying to learn but cant find any simple websites... i would like
to know how to wipe the c: drive clean(my primary hard-drive) and re-install
xp without an operating system?? can anybody help this lost soul???

To remove the viruses/malware:

Go through these general malware removal steps systematically -

Include scanning with either Sysclean or Multi_AV, plus Ewido. Do all
prep/finishing work and follow instructions to do all scans in Safe
Mode.

When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the
specialty forums listed at the link above (not here, please).

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting
this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop (not your local version of BigStoreUSA).

To do a clean install of Windows (which includes formatting the hard
drive, effectively "wiping" the drive), you must have an operating
system disk. See these links for instructions, particularly the last

Hi Jenny,

Well You have to put in WInXP CD and boot ur computer from CD.. then you may
follow the instructions.. You canot format OS partition from within Windows..
U hae to boot from CD or Floppy to do it.. For more ino feel free to contact
