After receiving an email from our Exchange Server 2003 that said, "The
following disk is low on free disk space. Low levels of free disk space can
cause performance problems and prevent users from saving files on the disk."
I checked to see what might be the problem. I noticed that a file with the
extension .gthr was over 23Gb's. I then checked this file extension online
and found a reply to on a forum saying that there was someone spying on my
server.

Is this true and if so, what do I do to get rid of it and prevent it in the
future?

Please help, I'm a novice.

To honestly say, please send an email to me WITH THE FILE ATTACHED IN A
.ZIP, .RAR, OR .TAR.GZ FORMAT. Send it to: truemuffinman@poetictimes
(me) with the subject ".gthr".

However, if you do not want a detailed answer and just something short
and sweet, basically, yes, someone is spying on you. Those are logs by
Microsoft, which Microsoft can access at any one given time they want,
of Every Single Thing You Do on your computer.

Wow, I just realized how much of a terrorist I sounded like. Seriously,
I expect you to forward a log of your computer to me? God. I wouldn't
even do it if I were you. Sorry, ignore that. I just wanted to see if
anything malicious or with malicious-potential was in it, but
nevermind. Sorry.

I doubt you're being spied on. Do you run Sharepoint Portal Server? This
file likely has to do with indexing.....

Only someone wearing a tinfoil hat would mean that sincerely. And someone
posting it as a joke should investigate other hobbies.
