can't figure out how to ask MS about this. My ATT panic
ware pop-up stopper works fine, but I keep getting
endads.com popping up when I'm composing e-mail and even
in the middle of an MS update download. I told them to
stop but nothing has happened. Any fixes or suggestions?
I am a user, not a techie.

They are using something called the Windows messenger
service to get the popups in.. your blocker can't stop
this.
If they can get you this way, hackers can get you a
thousand other ways.. you're not running a firewall.
solution 1
open the computer management console. navigate to
services, find the messenger service, double click it, and
change it's startup to.. disabled. Then right click the
service and stop it [or reboot].
solution 2
Run a firewall. If you need the messenger service, this
is your only solution anyway. You need one anyway, right?
Got Blaster? May I suggest the free version of Zonealarm.
Works great. www.zonealarm.com

This is the same as an organized crime protection racket.

Install a firewall like ZoneAlarm. Stopping Messenger Service is like
hiding your head in the sand to ignore problems.

Download AdAware (free) from http://www.lavasoftusa.com
If you use it regularly, it will keep your computer free
of trackware, dialers, dataminers and other objects that
can be the source of popups. Be sure to use "webupdate"
before every scan to make sure you have the correct ref
file because they are updated frequently.
