after installing win xp sp2, spy sweeper, and norton anti-virus over
the last couple of months, i've noticed that when i send an email that
has an attachment, the email never arrives at it's destination. no
errors, nothing.

is there some setting somewhere that affects emails w/ attachments? i
can't seem to find anything...

any assistance would be appreciated. thx.

Hi Todd

What email client are you using?

I would recommend setting up a test between you and a friend and send an
email without and attachment and then repeat the test with one straight away
(this way you can track when the one with the attachment should have got to
your friend).
Now repeat this but disable Norton.
Now repeat but disable Spy Sweeper

If the email is still not getting through we will need more information
about your email client.

Let us know how you get on.

Look in all your options on your email client and in whatever firewall
you're using, but this phenomenon may not be under your control. Your
ISP and/or the recipient's ISP may be stripping out attachments from
their servers before it gets to the account mailboxes. A lot of ISP's
and mail hosts (my hosting company, for instance, which is from where I
run my email) did this at the height of the last worm epidemic. I
forget exactly which worm it was; there have been so many. Since Phell
is running wild right now, they may be doing it again.

Well then, check out all the options on your email client, firewall, any
"internet security" type software you are running.

A couple of other things to check...

1) Does OE have a copy of your original email in the "Sent Items" folder? If
so OE has successfully passed the message to your email server.

2) Also ensure the issue does not lie with the recipient. Have you tried
sending the email to multiple recipients to ensure your email is not getting
filtered as spam by a single recipient?
