I remember that somebody here said that SP2 will allow us to disable
BHOs (although not directly remove them). Does someone know
how(where) to acomplish this?

Yes, SP2 can smoothly handle the add-ons in IE. You can access the Manager
Add-ons in IE from Tools menu, click Manage Add-ons.
