    - Getting certificate context properties Hi all, I am developing a small app in C++ and I need to list all the certificates in the system store, in a List View, like the one displayed in the CryptUIDlgSelectCertificateFromStore() dialog. I have successfully enumerated all the certificates using CertEnumCertificatesInStore() but I can't seem to extract all the bits of information from the certificate context, i.e. Issued to, Issued by, Intended purposes, Friendly name, Expiration date and Location. The only pieces of information I have been able to get so far using CertGetCertificateContextProperty() and CertGetNameString() is the Issued to, Issued by and Friendly name.     - NT Kernel trying to access net My firewall keeps telling me that "NT Kernel system may have changed since the last time you opened it. Do you want to allow it to access the internet?" And then when I backtrace it, I get this IANA place, the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority, who are these people and why is my computer trying to send them something? Is this a virus?     - help I have been illegally networked for over a year. Got a new computer 2 months ago with HP home. This person (I know the identity) has worked around firewalls, Mcafee, Zone Alarm, you name it. Ive wiped the drives 3 times but persistent information is being stored in C;, D; S; K; F; G: drives, jsut that I know of.     - NT server share ownership and permissions When an NT server share was set up, the group 'Everyone' owned the share. Hi All, The share has subdirectories that are not permissioned to the group 'Everyone'. Does this mean that if a user in the group 'Everyone' wants to change permissions on the sub-directories they have no permissions over they have to take-ownership individually (e.g. Owner = 'SheildD')? or Can the user change file and subdirectory permissions anyway because they are the owner of the share by being part of the group 'Everyone'?     - Logging-on to WinNT domain after hard disk change We're using Ghost images in our lab for backing up the systems. After I pull out the HD from its drawer, I do not succeed logging on to our NT domain again, and I have to disconnect and then re-connect to the domain using local administrator.     - Pop-Up Windows How does one get rid of pop ups. I get a lot of dating service, sex, reducing and loan pop ups. It is most annoying when I am in the middle of a letter or game and one of these windows over rides whatever is on the screen.It is also embarrassing to return to my computer several hours later and find a sex ad in the middle of my screen. I've been able to use the "My Computer...Add/Remove programs" on a couple. But, most of these new pop ups don't appear on the add/delete program screen (at least not in any form I can recognize) so I can't remove them. Where can they be found, haw are they recognizable from regular program items (ie. do they have a peculiar file extension etc.) and how do I get rid of them.     - strange error We have about 5 NT machines that have been acting very strangly over the last few months. It started with one and seemed to "spread" to the others over a few weeks. I was checking the Event log on 2 of them, and they both have the same error several times in the same day, It read The browser has received an illegal datagram from the remote computer QA771C to name OUR_COMPUTER on transport Nwlnk. The data is the datagram. I replaced our computers name for security reasons. The remote computer had many different names, I counted 9, and it looks to be something like a port scan or something like that, because I have gotten this error over 50 times in under 20 minutes.     - Access 2000 I will TRY to make this as short as possible. I needed to get a very large(350 meg) MS Access DB from one place to another, which means from moving it from one LAN to another. After receiving the DB via CD, quite a few of the objects(macros, forms, etc..) aren't there. Is this due to the DB have security applied to it ?     - can i stop web page redirection ok. The problem: Some one changed a file in my IE program Files. Reason I came to this conclusion: First: my search page was changed from the msn search page to www.white-pages.ws. They did a good job too. When I went to click customize search it opened the same page in a new window; very clever. Solved this by downloading upgrade of IEv5.5 to IE v6.02 and blocking web page by putting in the restricted sites under Internet Options/Security Tab, restricted Icon. Second: I tried viewing a geocities.com site and was redirected to www.white-pages.ws. So I typed in www.geocities.com and the page came up. Now when I typed in www.geocities.com/ (note: added the back slash to indicate subdirectory) and it came up with white page ws again. So I went offline and deleted the temporary internet (all off-line content) and cookies then placed in the address bar www.geocities.com ... unable to pull up page off-line. I then typed in www.geocities.com/ and poof, the page shows up. I assume it is like the 404 Error page and I just don't know what the name of the file is. I had another website change that in a previous version IE. Questions: Is there a place where you can find out the name of these files or where they are stored? ie. 404 Error, Search page, and so on. Is there any way to stop web redirection? So that instead of being redirected to www.white-pages.ws.com it will ask or prevent the redirection.     - Pop-up ad filtering I have Windows ME. In the past week I have had a flood of pop-up ads, some of which are very offensive. We are using Comcast broadband for Internet connection.     - someone unknown sending spam from my id address I was recently contacted by Road Runner because someone got into my computer from the internet and was using my ip address to send spam. I've added a firewall and have it set so that I have to permit or deny any access to or from my computer. I get two messages (every minute!) that I can't find information on. Following is the Incoming Message Alert!from Kerio firewall software: "Someone from 192.168.1.1, port 1901 wants to send UDP datagram to port 1900 owned by 'SSDP Service on Windows Millennium' on your computer" Details about application: c:\windows\system\ssdpsrv.exe Can someone tell me what legitimate program might be needing this access? I do not host a site on my computer. I have high speed internet access through Time Warner/Road Runner. I don't file share with anyone and only have one computer connected. i need to get into a site secured with a 128 bit version
of SSL. not sure my browser supports it. can't reach the
web address referred to (page won't open) How can I see if
my browser is adequate? or update it to waht I need?

You didn't mention what web browser you're using, so I can't give you exact
instructions, but I believe you can click on Help, About to find out your
current encryption strength of your browser. Posting the exact word for word
error message you're getting when you try to access the page is always a
good idea for any tech support question. If the problem is that your
browser is not at 128-bit encryption, see here:
