I'm running WinXP behind a router with NAT, do I still have to activate the
XP firewall? Thank you in anticipation.

You don't have to.

I would recommend that once Service Pack 2 for Windows XP is available, you
DO activate the firewall, even behind the NAT.

This is because it is possible to configure the Windows firewall in SP2 to
allow for file and printer sharing with the local subnet behind the router.

If you have no other machines behind the router, I'd recommend running the
SP1 firewall now.

You have an analog modem, right? Ever use it for dialup, say, when the
service that the router connects to is down?

Bill,

Thank you for your prompt respond. I've another notebook connected to the
router (wireless) using Win98SE. Both my desktop & notebook do not have
dial-up modems.

I've scan it with Sysgate & it indicates that all ports are stealth.

Thank you once again.
