annoying sounds

occasionally my computer sounds like it's receiving morse code. i'm on
broadband and the computer is on most of the time. any ideas on what this is
and how to fix it. thanks.

Check your speakers. If they are old, that could be the reason. Other
than that, I'm afraid we just don't have enough information from you to
even guess. For starters, from where is the sound coming? Does it seem
like an application sound? Popup blockers? Only you can see what
programs are running on your machine.

Is your phone sitting near your speakers?

If so, trying moving it.

do you have 'filters' installed on ALL your phone lines?
if not - then you should.

Do you have a mobile/cell phone near your computer?, then that's probably
the reason. As these phones send out/receive a 'I'm hear signal' every so
often, and your PC/speakers/etc are picking up the same signal.

Do you have a unused modem in your machine?
It could be a dialer, truing to make a connection from your machine.
