First:
That's not a patch(windowsupdate.com). That's a web site that contains many
patches for your OS.
Second:
That's great - what email program you running? Are should we ASSUME it's
Outlook Express and not Outlook, Eudora, Pegasus, etc?
If it *is* Outlook Express:
The attachments you may be receiving are potentially unsafe. If you know
they are from someone you trust AND something you expect (some virus's
spread by using people address books, so what looks like a friend's note may
not be:) then go to Outlook Express -> Tools -> Options -> Security Tab ->
'Do not allow
attachments ....' and temporarily uncheck it.
I say temporarily because (two reasons) that is the advice given by the
poster I took the above text from in this newsgroup (Thomas O'Grady [MSFT])
and because it is true. You should have that on because you could be the
next person in this newsgroup saying "I just got this virus, how do I..."
