I am running windows 2000 pro. Started up my pc and it seems to be restored
back to the day I first ran the pc. All of my documents are gone, in
internet explorer everytime I restart the pc everything starts back to fresh
settings. Everything seems to work fine, but after every restart it goes
back to day one.

That would be extremely unusual unless you have a third party application
that is maintaining the state of the computer. Look in the logs via Event
Viewer to see if anything is shown there that may give a clue. Possibly you
are having a problem with your user profile. Try creating another user,
logon as that user and see if the problem persists. You could also use
Windows Explorer or search to see if your documents are still somewhere on
the computer or not. User profiles [including my documents, etc] are stored
under documents and settings folder where there will be subfolders with user
names of those that have logged onto the computer. If you find your folders
but can not access them you will need to logon as an administrator and take
ownership of the folder and all subfolders and then give yourself or
administrators full control permissions. --- Steve
