"Adware vendors propagating rootkits" is the title of a Fox News article and,
if I am reading it correctly, it says we may be exposing our computers by
using Adaware, etc. Is that correct?

Yes. Some software packages that position themselves as adware cleaners are
the worst of crapware.

Adaware doesn't have such reputation, or hidden agenda. Nor has MS
Antispyware.
