In an attempt to update for security purposes, the only
result I've received is the following message:
"Runtime Error- Program C\Program Files\Internet
Explorer\Explore.Exe.R6025 - pure virtual function call"
This prohibits me from accessing Microsoft Word. Any
clues out there?

Most likely , a file got corrupt. Which one - dunno. MS knowledgebase has
many entries for the R6025 error, but nothing particular for IE.

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=299318
has the right error message, but is irrelevant on the surface and offers no
useful advice.

One google hit I got on it (from weatherbug) stated that they couldn't
prevent it on some "slow or low memory" computers--so it is possible that
this won't repeat??

Can you state more clearly what is happening? Is it possible for you to
reinstall the particular patch? Are you getting this error trying to run
Word, or trying to download patches?
