After completing all the steps to make critical updates to
MS Office 2000 (KB873374), it seems Microsoft's update
procedure has screwed up my Windows 98 registry. I ran the
Norton Utilities diagnostic program WinDoctor immediately
before and immediately after the update. WinDoctor
identified 44 medium-priority registry errors in 3
categories:
1) Invalid Help Files (references to missing help files),
2) Invalid File Extensions (unrecognized extensions),
3) Invalid ActiveX/COM Entries (missing icons, missing
toolbar bitmap, invalid identifiers, nonexistant keys,
invalid command entry, missing files).
Are these cause for concern? Should I do nothing or let
Norton "fix" the problems using default methods?
P.S. Microsoft phone support was a waste of time.
