Hi, I have a problem because I cannot start the windows
firewall, even manually. XP issues an error saying the
firewall couldn't be started and that my computer might be
at risk!
Someone can help me?
Thanks in advance and regards,
Miguel

Perhaps if you tell us what the error says exactly.

Also, what events are in the event viewer?

Hi

Registering the following DLLs might help.

From Start/Run, run the following commands:

regsvr32 %windir%\system32\atl.dll

then

regsvr32 %windir%\system32\hnetcfg.dll
regsvr32 %windir%\system32\netshell.dll
regsvr32 %windir%\system32\netcfgx.dll
regsvr32 %windir%\system32\netman.dll

Then do a reboot.

Ok try doing the following...
Open Regedit and locate the following key:
hkey_local_machine\software\classes\appid\{ce166e40-1e72-45b9-94c9-3b2050i8f180}Right click on it's entry in the list in the left hand pane and choose theexport option, and export the whole key (e.g. the folder in the list) to afile somewhere so we have a "just in case" backup. With the backup made, right click on the key again and delete it.Now reboot, and see if the firewall works correctly, I think theres a goodchance it will.----Rob Moir, Microsoft MVP for servers & securityWebsite - http://www.robertmoir.co.ukVirtual PC 2004 FAQ - http://www.robertmoir.co.uk/win/VirtualPC2004FAQ.htmlKazaa - Software update services for your Viruses and Spyware.
