If it's got a page loaded, yes. Any ad financed website will
continually download ads, which cause network traffic. Any page in
the Yahoo domain is lousy with that crap.

Active pages of any kind cause network traffic. The ISC home page
<http://isc.sans.org/> generates a lot of traffic on my browser.

If that doesn't sound like your situation, you need to check for
