Hi group,

Wucrtupd.exe runs and I get the indicated updates (Win98 upgrade from WFW3.11).
The dialog indicates updates were successfully installed and the log also indicates the
same. The next time the program runs it lists the following as needed ~

817787: Security Update Windows Media Player 7.1
Q320920: Security Update (Windows Media Player 7.1)

At first I didn't even have that application on my system (don't really want it).

I tried downloading WMP v7.1 and then updating, uninstalling and updating, nothing
I do will get these to stop appearing as being needed updates even though it always
says it was successfully installed. Is this a known issue (I didn't see it mentioned by
anyone)?

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

I ahd the same problem a while ago. I called Microsoft
and they gave me permission to reset the Winsock file.
That cured it. I don't remember exactly what the
instructions were because they walked me through it.
Check the Knowledge base.

Good Luck!
Eileen
