Hi,

I have Windows XP Professional and if I run Internet
Connection Firewall (IFC) then I can not connect to any
FTP server. So I must shut down IFC. Is there any other
way how can I connect to FTP server without shutting down
IFC ? Because if I shut down IFC someone may hack my
computer.

Thanks.

Use a better firewall like Kerio. It permits customization and provides
outbound protection against rogue applications.

Kerio is generally better than ICF and switching to it is not a bad idea.
However, I'm not sure it's better at FTP than Kerio. ICF supposedly acts as
a proxy and monitors your FTP connections to allow the second data
communication which uses a randomly chosen port. I'm not sure Kerio does
that.

You may be able to fix this by changing your FTP software [or Internet
Explorer, if that's what you're using] to use both Active and Passive FTP.
In IE, this is under Tools, Internet Options, Advanced.
