Hi,

My daily scan just stopped running. I can do a manual scan with no problem.
I check the Task Scheduler service and it's running. I checked the Windows
Defender service and it's running. I tried changing the scan time and that
didn't work. The only thing I didn't do was remove Defender and reinstall.
Can anyone offer any other suggestion?

Hello Kurt,

You can repair Windows Defender.

First exit WD, click the down arrow to the right of the white question mark

in blue circle and then click Exit Windows Defender; using Add or Remove

Programs in Control Panel. Click WD and click Change. Click Next, and then

click Updªte.


If you still have the same message, try this:

First exit WD, click the down arrow to the right of the white question mark

in blue circle and then click Exit Windows Defender; using Add or Remove

Programs in Control Panel. Click WD and click Support Information and click

Repair.


Reboot.

Microsoft has set up (specific) newsgroups for Windows Defender Support.

I did a repair and it didn't help. I got it working by uninstall, rebooting,
and reinstalling. It running again.

Hi,

I went looking for newsgroup link from the Defender Web Page got lost
clicking though the wrong links. As a matter of fact, I still canâ??t get to
the newsgroup page without the link you provided. Please suggest to the
owners of the Defender Web Page to make it easier in the future to find these
dedicated newsgroups.
