Anyone ever heard of Senarpnkdpns? I have this running in my Services and a
search of my files comes up empty of anything similar. I ran Adaware and
Spybot S&D but they come up with no problems except the usual which I'm able
to delete.

What's this service? by Russell

If that is the service name; when you open up the
properties for the service, what path does it give for the
executable?

There is none, the path field is blank. Someone suggested I look in the
registry and this is what I found there:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services
Senarpnkdpns:
Value= DisplayName Data=Senarpnkdpns
Value=ErrorControl Data=0x00000001 (1)
Value=Group Data=FSFilter Quota Management
Value=Start Data=0x00000004 (4)
Value=Tag Data=0x00000001 (1)
Value=Type Data=0x000000010 (16)

It has two sub-directories:
Enum
Security

Closest thing to a path is in Enum:
Value=0 Data= Root\LEGACY_SENARPNKDPNS\0000
In Enum there is also a Count and NextInstance both are 0x00000001 (1)

In Security I see:
Value=Security Data= a large string of number pairs

Any ideas??

Some one been trying of out quota management software? This
is pure speculation on my part, but best thing I can find
that fits your situation. =20

Using google to search for 'fsfilter quota management', I
found this old post, only the cached version exist, the
link as long disappeared.

http://www.google.ca/search?q=3Dcache:E6ZsiE6EETUJ:www.ntfsd.org/archive/=
ntfsd0208/msg0017.html+%22fsfilter+quota+management%22&hl=3Den

From there I did a search on just 'quota management'.=20
Found products like NTPsoftware.com 's 'Quota and File
Sentinial', and advtoolware.com 's 'SpaceGuard'. It was
NTP Software product Quota and File Sentinial, That got me
thinging that quota management might of been in place on
the machine.

Russell,
I saw that post before and it did not help me a bit. I'm not sure I
understand what quota management does but whatever it is I doubt if I need
it because I've had this service disabled since I spotted it (I picked it up
within the past week since I'm always looking at my services often to be
safe so I know it's new) with no ill effects that I'm aware of. I'm really
baffled that no one else ever had or found this service running since as you
probably found doing a google on this service there are absolutely no hits
whatsoever!
I would like to completely remove all traces and referances of this service
from my pc, do you know if there is a safe way of doing it like a utility
specifically designed for this type of procedure?

thanks for your help

Disk Quota management normally limits the amount of disk
space a person can use. Like the online mail systems, you
might get a disk quota of say 10MB. Although it is
possible to use quota management for other things, like
the amount of band width you can use.

As far as I can I found, the services are controlled from
the registry entry you quoted. So I would just backup
that registry level, and then delete the registry key that
has the service info in it.

As to where it came from, no idea. Did you install some
software around the time it showed up?

Thanks for the info Russell. I removed this 'parasite' from my registry and
all is good again. :)
Thanks again for your time!
