I have recently installed a internet security package and
it identified a "Invalid Source IP Address" coming from
255.255.255.255 (protocol icmp)and being sent to your-
wg5n33dutv (followed by my currently assigned ip
address). So I am being pinged. I checked with my ISP
and they are not sending it. I ran Ad-Aware and removed
all non-windows related spy ware. I have done a google
search on this and found several articles refering to
your-wg5n33dutv as a location that seems to store results
of some form of data gathering. Is this some part of
Windows XP or some of their spy software? I am confused
how the source IP can be 255.255.255.255? Does anyone
have any idea of what this is??? Any help would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks

Jeff

That is a bogus source address on a ping packet. Your ISP should stop
these at the border, but they may be coming from someone else on your
local network.

Unless this is what used to be called a "Christmas tree packet" (all
options lit up in an effort to crash the recipient), there doesn't seem
to be much point to pings with bogus source addresses. Perhaps you are
under a mild denial of service attack? Who have you pissed off lately? :-)
