There is no need to SHOUT, when posting within this
Newsgroup. SHOUTING is rude, and uncalled for. Adios!

Melvin,

in this case SHOUTING is called for! What are you going
to tell your users about the 31 different ways that IE can
be compromised???? Just don't use the Internet????

Microsoft needs to post instructions on how to disable the
holes or provide patches IMMEDIATELLY.

And that's just the ones they know about... what about the rest of
your software... The easiest way to avoid worrying about it is this
nifty device called a firewall.

Evin,

Sorry to bust your bubble - but a firewall does NOTHING to
prevent IE vulnerablities. One click on a narfarious link
posted on a newsgroup and your machine could have a
keyboard recorder installed - maybe it already does...

Perhaps there is something you are doing wrong.
None of those exploits occurred for me. What was supposed to happen.
I am glad you posted this .=20
Now I will put little faith in those once in 10 billion or so and =
highly unlikely for me alerts so often published.=20

Good call, that's what I get for not reading carefully. You are
correct, a firewall will not prevent such things as scripting
vulnerabilties... however doing things like disabling scripting in the
browser, running an AV in the background a regular scanning with
something like ad-aware DO help.

I have scripting disabled except for sites I explicitly enable it on,
and always check out suspect links with lynx before opening them in
IE.

As far as a keylogger installed, I doubt it... I've had *1* viral
infection in the last 18 years.... and that was MY fault. I found a
.vbs on my machine from a file-sharing application, got curious,
right-clicked 'open' instead of 'edit' and became a victim of lovebug.
