Hi. I have a strange problem... I'm trying to install a
fresh copy of Win XP. Right after I instal it, I'm trying
to connect to the internet to download the security
updates get rid of all this holes that the viruses us.
But at the second I connect to the net, some vituses
geting in and craping the win. So I thought, maybe
there's some sort of security update file, that I can
download from the MS site and then intall it offline???
If you guys have any idea, where I can find such thing,
it would be very helpful.

And how do you know that you are being attacked by all these viruses? Do you
have an anti-virus program that is reporting them? Do you have a firewall
and is it operating? Even the built-in WinXP firewall is better than
nothing. So far as I know, all of the security fixes can be downloaded or MS
will even send you one in the mail if you just ask for it.

My idea was to put an anty virus. But the version of the
AV doesn't recognase this viruses (such as sasser). So
I'm trying to get a virus definition update from the
net... but meanwhile viruses atacs. It looks like the
closed on my ip and atacing all the time. The problem is
that I have a static ip on a cable connection.

You need to enable your firewall before connecting to the
internet, this will stop most of the problem, then get a
GOOD firewall, zonealarm makes a good one and it's free.
Yes microsoft can send you a cd with the updates, however
you can do it safely and quicker, just by enabling your
firewall, use windows explorer and open the help file
search for how to enable your firewall.

Yeah... I gueass the firewall would solve the problem
until i get an updates. I should think about it in the
first place :) Thanks. By the way, does anyone have an
idea, how it could be that the viruses attack the pc all
the time???

They can only attack through running services (so you are really not
worried about viruses and your anti-virus usually does not check what
services allow in), before you connect get the firewall running and turn
off all the services you can.

"all the updates" still will NOT include those released in the last
couple of months which stop the viruses/worms most likely to be trouble
right now.

Too many infected computers out there. There are thousands of infected
computers (run by clueless users often) scanning for computers that are
open to infection.
