I was wondering if their was a patch or anything out there
to protect my computer from the email virus that is going
around. I have recieved the email numerous times and I'd
just like to be extra sure that if someone accidentally
opens the virus that the computer would be protected.
Thank you.

Make sure your system is up to date with
windowsupdate site.

Consider using these free (for home use) tool:

If you execute someone elses code on your computer, then it may not be your
computer any more.

This is fact.

There is a more than two year old patch to prevent this virus from
auto-executing. If you have ever updated Internet Explorer in the past two
years, you are likely protected against auto-execution.

However, NOTHING can protect you against actually executing the critter
yourself. Antivirus vendors updated defs on the 18th for this critter, so
if you are running a/v, and if you are updated (or their heuristics are
good--NAV for example)--a/v MAY protect you.

In the long run, however, you are responsible to not click on the
thing--Microsoft can't provide a patch that says "don't allow this program
to run, but allow all others."
