Let's start with a basic question: What's your Windows version?

Either right-click on My Computer icon, left-click on Properties or go
to the System applet in Control Panel. On the General tab you'll see
your operating system and Service Pack level (if XP); i.e., Windows XP
Service Pack 2.

Also, what antivirus do you have installed? With the above information,
include the name of the antivirus program and the version (i.e., Norton
Antivirus 2005).

"Once in a while?"

Either it's running or it's not.
