For the past two weeks i have received requests from
Microsoft to update with current patches they are sending
me..I wasn't sure they were legit. I couldnt get in
contact with them so out of frustration i downloaded the
suggested patches..Im still functioning.I wanted to
confirm these patches were from microsoft but was unable
to do so..My secondary problem is that during the last
two weeks i keep receiving noticis that E mail delivery
was unable to be completed. I didnt send any E mail to
the addresses identified in the notice..I'm a novice at
this stuff and am about to qiit Microsoft for another
entity, If that is possible.

Bob,

Please read previous posts. This is a virus, and has nothing to do with MS.
Just delete 'em and keep your AV up-to-date.

Bob;
Microsoft NEVER sends Email with attachments.

NEVER open a unexpected attachment.
Verify with sender before opening an attachment.
Delete the mail and the attachment immediatly if not verifiable.

About your second problem--email not able to complete delivery.

You might call your ISP, or check their web site, to see if they have a
Web-based email system that you can look at your email on.

You may have a backlog of spam, or perhaps virus messages (anything from
Microsoft with an attachment, for example) which you can delete via the
web-based email thus freeing up your real mail.

Symantec has a removal tool. I would suggest downloading
it and making sure you don't have the virus.

Bob, your secondary problem could be a side effect of your primary problem.
Swen also generates fake mail delivery notices. For more information:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.swen.a@mm.html
<snip>
The worm can also impersonate mail delivery failure notices, attaching
itself as a randomly named executable.
One example is:
I'm sorry I wasn't able to deliver your message to one or more destinations.
</snip>

On the phone part. You could be like me and on the kill filter for
their phones and e-mail. they're tired of my calling to try and find
out what their spyware is trying to do.
