the only way to prevent them from getting to your machine is to have the
server trash them. For this you must check with your IT dept or ISP to see
if it can be done.

Short answer: you can't. The mail server will send you
whatever mail is addressed to you, and since you have no
control over that, the only way to not get unwanted email
that is sent to your ISP's mail server is to.. yep.. not
sign on.
What you're doing now is fine.. but.. did you know the
same rule can be set to permenantly delete the messages?
Have a look at the email rules list...

Good afternoon Deb, If you are using Microsoft Outlook,
you can have the unwanted senders mail sent directly to
the trash once received. In Outlook, click on Organize
icon, on your tool bar, select Junk email. Then use the
pull down menus to set the rules to Move Junk messages to
Deleted Items, and then click the Turn on Button.
Then go back to your un-wanted mail and right click on it
and select the Junk email list, add to junk senders list.
You will receive a confirmation, just click ok and you are
finished. No new software needed. You can also do this
using Netscape, just a differant setup is all. Hope this
helped.

Have a great day.
Dave

get e-mail washer it allows you to delete from the server
before it's downloaded to your pc.
Be aware email filters are useless, all someone has to do
is change a few things and they are past your filters.
at the most you wind up not receiving mail you really want
to receive.

the program is free, one word of advice, do not use the
bounce feature, most email (spam) use false addresses
so you just bounce it back to someone who never sent it
in the first place!
Go to google.com and do a search for mailwasher

In addition to everybody elses advice:

The same mail rule you are now using to move the files to deleted messages,
can be modified.

Check out the list items under actions, scroll down to the last one, which
should be "delete from server."

This is what you are looking for, I think.

Try and get past this one:

If expression headers matches "Received:*20[01].[0-9]+.[0-9]+.[0-9]+*"
Delete ""

No, it is not an MSOE filter; it is a rule I set up in Mercury Mail. It
would work in Pegasus Mail, too. The only way to get past that one is to
find an open proxy in some other part of the world than Latin America. You
find it, I will block it.
