The speed with which K9, and other Bayesian filters I presume, "learn" to
filter spam really depends on the number of messages they are trained on so
it is difficult to set a time for the process. Someone who receives a great
number of messages will see a quick training process while those who receive
few may find it taking months. K9 took only a week before it was killing
over 90% of my spam and by two weeks it was up to 95%. Its present hit kill
rate of 98-98.5% has been stable for six months or more.
