Someone is messing with me

Someone came over my house and loaded something into my
computer. Every time I log into the net on particular
programs, my computer get shot down.

Can you help me with that.

I'd do an online scan and see if there's a virus on your computer. You
can do this at this website:
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm

Do you have any anti-virus software and firewall software installed?

If the computer insists on shutting down before you can
do an online scan (sounds like the MS Blaster; RPC
problem), bring up a command/dos window (Start\run\cmd on
WinXP or Win2K). Enter "shutdown -a" at the command line
and press enter. This will kill the System Shutdown.

Make sure to update your AntiVirus signatures. Go to
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ for updated
patches.

What happens?

Do you get a 1 minute countdown?

Does the shutdown message mention RPC?
