Hi,

This is my first Wi-Fi network. I am using a Belkin Pre-N router and Pre-N
notebook (PCMCIA) card.
I am trying to setup WPA encryption under Windows 2000 Pro. All
documentation I have seen shows Windows XP.
Can WPA work under Windows 2000?
Also, are there drawbacks to WPA over WEP?
Someone here posted that netcams don't work with WPA.

Thanks for the help.

Yes, upgrade to SP4 for Win2000. Your router and wireless card must support
WPA. If they do, then use the manufacturer's wireless software to connect to
your WPA supported wireless router.
If you are setting up a wireless network of up to 3 users, check out
Lucidlink software which is free for 3 users. Very neat software for home
users.

Dan,

Thanks for the response.

I am on for Win2000.
The Belkin Pre-N router and PCMCIA are rated for WPA.
I checked the Wi-Fi Network site and they show that router certified for WPA
Personal.

I installed both items using the Belkin software CDs. I haven't found
anything in the mfg. software for WPA, yet.

I did see Lucidlink software, but I thought that was for WPA Enterprise only.

I am not sure if the Belkin Pre-N supports all WPA. It may.

I am still looking in to it. I have emailed Belkin. You've responded faster...

How many users are you going to have? If it is just home use or a small
business of less than 10 users, I would recommend Lucidlink which is very
easy to setup and maintain.
