Hi, I have been receiving the same email over and over
again. The sender is security@microsoft.com, the message
tells me to download the attached patch. This is the
message:
Dear friend , use this Internet Explorer patch now!
There are dangerous virus in the Internet now!
More than 500.000 already infected!

The attachment: patch.exe

Can anyone tell me if this is ligit and secure, and is it
really from Microsoft? How can I verify this?

It's a virus. I have been receiving hundreds in my yahoo bulk/spam
folder. If you run virus scanner via yahoo on the attachment it detects
a virus.
