Hi,

I have observed that the recent patches do no have Windows NT 4.0
Workstation support. I understand that Microsoft have declared it as
obsolete. The patches do not specifically states that Windows NT 4.0
workstation is not affected. so can i saftely say that Windows NT 4.0
workstation is not affected?

Pls advise.

No.
You cannot safely say that Windows NT 4.0 workstation is not affected.

You can safely say that Windows NT 4.0 workstation is no longer supported.

You can safely say that NT 4 Workstation was not evaluated
relative to the vulnerability. If NT4 Sever was found to be
vulnerable it would be a good guess that NT4 Workstation
would be if it was not a server-only component that was the
subject of the patch.
Note that moving forward neither NT4 Server nor Workstation
will be evaluated

Usually not. The patch installer program usually checks what OS version is
running and often refuses to install on Workstation.

Having said that, the NT Workstation and Server code is very similar, and
often the patch files are the same. You could try using a software packager
like Winstall to monitor and replicate the changes the patch makes to your NT
Server on Workstations. This would be untested and unsupported, but then NT
Workstation is no longer freely supported.

You can also contact MS support and ask them to build patches for you, for a
fee. I'm not sure what the fee would be. It could be they have already
built such patches for other paying customers, and/or that building a patch
might be relatively easy.

The simple answer:

The bulletin states the products the update applies to. If the product is
not listed, then the update is not developed for the product, is not tested
on that product, and is not supported on that product.

Bulletins now no longer list Windows NT 4.0 Workstation because it is no
longer tested. Extended support for NT 4.0 Server ended 31 December 2004,
but if we know an update will work on NT Server and we categorize it as critical,
we'll list that (MS05-001 and -002), but such listings won't continue indefinitely.
