What patch are you referring?
There is only one version of Windows XP Home.
You should install ALL Critical Updates.
Start/All Programs/Windows Update

Skater,

Yes, you need it if you are talking about the Critical Patch MS04-007 that
came out on Tuesday. I suggest you start here:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/default.asp get all the necessary
patches, enable notifications of forte parches, and enable the firewall.
