Since last two weeks when I try to logon to my bank's
URL:www.online.citibank.co.in/, I get the message that "security certificate
for the site has expired or is not valid". The expiry date given is:
10/20/2006. I checked with the bank and they e-mailed me the new certificate
and the procedure to install it. I did. The new certificate is installed but
I still get the same message and cannot logon to the site. I am unable to
access my bank accout and I AM GETTING FRUSTRATED. I am not sure if I have
screwed up something in my computer. The bank cannot help me either. They say
that no one else is having this problem. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE PLEASE.

Hi,

Can you check the date on your computer. What is it set to?

The bank sent you the certificate???
The bank really does not understand SSL. They are supposed to install the new updated
certificate on their Web server, not on your computer.

The date is correctly set. I re synchronysed the date and time after I got
your reply. I suspect my system setup might be screwedup.

Please read my previous reply. You should *not* be installing the bank's certificate.

I am not sure if you need to remove the old certificate first, but here
is how to do so in FireFox 2.0 and MSIE 6. For both, some directions are
for tabs, some are for buttons within the tab.

Before doing this see if anyone posts a disagreement to doing this! I
had to do this in MSIE for a Credit Union site, but it is my
understanding it is supposed to be automatic and behind the scenes,
unless you have told your browser to notify you each time.

FF2
Click on: Tools > Options > Advanced > Encryption > View Certificates >
Other People's. Choose the appropriate certificate, click: Delete > OK >
OK. Close the browser.

MSIE 6
Click on: Tools > Internet Options > Content > Certificates > Other
People. Choose the appropriate certificate, Click: Remove > Close > OK.
Close the browser.

Open your browser, visit your bank's site again, it *should* request to
install a new certificate.
