The Office Inventory Tool, available at
http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/xp/journ/offUtool.htm
will detect whether this patch is installed or not. It
outputs an XML file that can be processed by customer
developed tools if they'd like.
You can also use Ohotfix.exe, available in the ORK at
http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/xp/journ/ohotfix.htm,
you can put all the .msp's in a folder, launch Ohotfix in
silent mode by modifying the ohotfix.ini accordingly and
you will get a silent install.
