Hi spikevermin,

HowStuffWorks.com offers a good, fairly concise, explanation of how a
firewall works in simple terms. You can find it here:

http://www.howstuffworks.com/firewall.htm

Hope this helps.

Google it and see what comes up. I'm an 8th grade gifted student who's
extremely interested in computer science and has learened as much as
possible, but the evident fact is, since I'm an 8th grader and have had a
limited amount of time to learn and test things I have no clue how a firewall
works. Also, this newsgroup is a not a how-things work forum or what does
this term mean forum (at least I think); Google it and find out the
information on your own - You'll learn better that way. If you're looking for
a firewall here are a few free, powerful, and secure firewalls: Windows
Firewall, ZoneAlarm Free Firewall, Sunbelt Kerio Firewall, and Sygate
Firewall. All of these firewalls' websites and download pages can be found on
the Download page of my website: www.stopmalware.tk

Hope you find the information you're looking for!

Elendil,

I appreciate your zeal, but this is a security group. He is asking a
security question. Google is a good resource in this case, but in fact
this is very much a "how-things work forum."
