hello,
Everytime I open MS outlook express I have dozens of e-
mails that I never sent returned to my box. The failure
notice claims I sent them, but I di not, the sent items
box does not show them and 99% if them the addresses I
have never even seen before.
Any ideas????
Thanks

Please forgive my blank posts. I'm getting the hang of
this forum. Do you have a good firewall and antivirus
program installed on your computer? If not, a good free
firewall is Zonealarm which can be found here
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/zap_za_grid.j
sp
A good free antivirus program is AVG which can be found
here http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php
Another good free program to have is AdAware which detects
and safely removes tracking cookies, dataminers, etc. (you
are in control of what you remove) from your computer. It
can be found here http://www.lavasoftusa.com/.
I would suggest scanning your computer for viruses and
trojans and scanning with AdAware, also. It sounds as if
somehow someone is using your email address to spam people
and the undeliverable emails are being bounced back to you.

The result of SOBIG.F worm (or some other similar mass mailing malware)
infecting a computer that has your e-mail address on it somewhere. The
infected computer tries to mail out copies to infect others and fakes the
"from" address from the address list it found and if your name is picked and
the mail doesn't make it through it gets returned -- not to the computer
that sent it but to you because that is the only return address the remote
mail server has to work with.

Not a damned thing you can do about the messages. Just erase them and move
on.

Oh, yeah, if you want to keep your own system from becoming infected keep up
your OS patches, use an anti-virus program and update the detections
frequently, run ADAware or Spybot S&D at least once a week (or both of
them, they're free), use either a software or hardware firewall (ZA has a
free vesion that works well), and if your setup will allow it run a NAT
router between your modem and computer.
