Hello - if anyone has any good argumements regarding why to USE Full Hard
Disk Encryption -vs- just Folder (& file) Encryption, please post some
comments. My boss wants to just do Folder, but I am leaning toward
encrypting the full HHD to cover all the bases - thinking of using something
like SafeGuard Easy 4.11. Please note: we are not considering EFS (sorry
MS). Thank you all in advance!

Hi,

With full HD encryption, you don't need to worry about files
erroneously saved outside "designated" folders, or tidbits left in
the temp folders (created by the application). Also, you will avoid
that anyone getting hold of the computer can load the registry hives
to extract e.g. usernames/passwords that you have let Internet Explorer
save.

We are using the "SafeGuard Easy" product to encrypt all of the local
hard disk on all laptops, and we are very satisfied with the product.

Thanks Torgeir - Nice to hear SafeGuard Easy is a good solution for full HHD
encryption. I will use that in my discussion with my Mgr.
I do have some arguements against just using File/Folder protection:
Sensitive areas are not able to get assigned and secured: Hybernation & Page
Files. Then trying to identify various temporary program directories (ie:
Lotus Notes, MS Office, ect).
I was looking for thoughts from others that may be 'outside the box'. Like
your comment about Hives..
