Hello:

I just finished installing windows 2003 Server. I set up a user, Venki, and
made him a member of all groups including Adminstrators.

But when I sign up as Venki, I am not even allowed to view the event log.
When I click on any of the logs, I get a message, "Unable to complete the
operation on "DNS Server". Access denied." This is the case on Application,
Security, System.

Can somebody tell me why?

A member of *all* groups? Any chance one of those groups is denied the
right to access the logs?

So what else have you done after you "just finished" the install?
IIRC the predefined groups are not preconfigured for denying
anything, so you must have done more than just installed, define
account Venki, and then added group memberships for Venki.

Karl:

How stupid can I get? Yes, that probably was the reason. Once I eliminated
all the other group memberships, I was fine.

Thanks.
