When I did a virus scan, it showed "naviWebAccess.exe -
Tool: Porn.dialer.gen!" on my computer. It's in my
scanner software. If I uninstall & reinstall the scanner,
will this rid me of this file? Also, is this considered a
trojan? It concerns me how it got there - I use Black Ice
firewall. Thank you.

You've got an interesting set of issues with your antivirus--care to tell us
what you are using?

I'd recommend getting a second opinion--you can get online scans with the
latest definitions from:

http://housecall.antivirus.com

for example, or:

http://security.symantec.com/default.asp?productid=symhome&langid=ie&venid=sym

Black Ice Defender, like most windows applications, is
notoriously, well, there is no polite term - garbage. One of
the apparent exceptions is ZoneAlarm - you may want to
consider switching after you do a bit of checking up on Black
Ice...

I've used Kerio for some time now with excellent results as well...

With the latest updates it has raised itself from garbage to junk. It is
still a rip-off as there are several much better firewalls that are free or
even the same price if one insists on paying for one. I use Kerio and am
very happy with it.

See:
http://www.firewallguide.com/
http://grc.com/lt/leaktest.htm
http://grc.com/lt/scoreboard.htm <== a bit dated but is informative.

SpyBot Search and Destroy has detections for porn dialers. You must use the
latest reference file update before using.

YoKenny's given a URL for Spybot Search & Destroy. That's a good tool for
getting rid of this kind of critter--be a little careful with it, though--it
has some settings that can go a little overboard.

Quite right--didn't mean at all to slight your contribution!

Hi Bill,

Not a problem, I'm a newbie to this NG but not to Spyware.
Visit us a news:alt.privacy.spyware sometime ;-)
