Recently I downloaded some of Microsoft's recommended
updates that were suppose to provide more security.
During the download I began to receive pop up messages
with phone numbers and web address that I could contanct
to get rid of the messages that I am now receiving.

Ever since downloading the Microsoft updates I have
continued to receive the popups. I already have Firewall
software that I purchased to prevent popups, and this is
the first time I had problems like this.

Does anyone konw if there is a security flaw in some of
Microsoft's products? How do I get rid of these popups?

A security flaw in a microsoft product? You're going to have to be more
specific there Mike, the list of those is practically endless.

Where did you get the updates from? www.google.com will give you a nice
list of popup stoppers also.

to you?

Your computer may have been hijacked. For information about pop-up windows,
how to get rid of them, and prevent them in the future have a look at the

It is?? All I see is your response to the question and I can scroll down
till the cows come home but thats all I see. Very strange. Probibly
problems between the way your news client posts and mine reads. Oh well,
never mind. Thanks for letting me know its on my end. Now all I have to
do is have coffee and figure out why I can't see anything but your
responses. :)

I see you're using Linux. I do have a Win98/Mandrake dual boot system that
could have been used for testing, if the darn thing didn't have dead
monitor/video card <sigh> Let me know if you work anything out. It may be
that your system is stripping out anything that appears below my signature
(perhaps recognising the delimiter as end message)... it might be worth
checking your user settings.
