I require to know how to patch all the pc's on a network
other than visiting each machinr & logging on as the
administrator. We have a mixture of win2k & xp systems
that need the blaster patch. i have downloaded the patches
& written a batch file, but when i go to a user pc(power
user) it says i do not have enough privages i.e. i require
adminitrator privages to install the patch. How can i get
around this. 50 systems, including 5 remote workers.

I hope this helps.

Please look over this thoroughly. As i don't know what you did so far, this
will probably do it for you!

Push them out using a product like Shavlik's HFNetChk, or use the
RUNAS method of running the install as a local admin. Any number of
ways will work.

I have looked through the information & understand about
the threat, however i am looking for a way of updating all
the pc's on the corporate network without actually having
to go & visit each & every pc & run the update as the
local administrator. If there is no other way, then this
is what i shall do, however i can not imagine this is how
very big companies run these type of updates/patches.
I have looked @ the patch management page, but in all
honesty do not understand how it works at present. I was
going to install the update by sending out a link to batch
file which would like to the update & run the applicaion
over the network, however the requires the end user is
running with administrator privaleges which of course they
are not.

the big boys run Tivoli or similar to roll out patches
