In the hopes that someone at MS is listening, KB 824141
breaks third party software, specifically Avid XPress,
the most high-end video editing software for PCs in the
industry.

What the patch does has to be seen to be believed. It
causes Avid to open jillions of windows on load and then
hang. How this can happen from a patch that "fixes" list
and combo boxes I have no idea.

The "break" has been experienced by every Avid user.

MS does listen... but the info below may not be enough. Someone affected
might really want to call MS phone support, it's free for problems with MS
patches. phone numbers are at www.microsoft.com/support, click on the
"$245" option.
