Our W2K3 server suddenly (as far as we can tell) started denying access to
any user whose account was created, or whose password was changed after some
unknown event occured. Any user created before the event and whose password
has not been changed can login without dificulty.

The problem users receive the "incorrect username or password" message.

Any ideas what happened and how to fix it?

Thanks!

Check Event Viewer on the server for any pertinent info. If this is a domain
with more than one domain controller you may have a replication problem and
the support tools dcdiag and gpotool may alert you to such. DNS problems can
also cause replication or problems or the inability to locate domain
controllers. The support tool netdiag can be run on domain controllers and
domain computers to check for that and a whole lot more. Of course always
do a full malware scan with the latest virus definitions when you are
experiencing unusual problems.--- Steve
