Outlook Express 6 patch unnecessary

Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-013
Cumulative Security Update for Outlook Express (837009)

Says you should install this patch if you have Outlook
Express installed (even if you don't use it).

However I went to Add/Remove programs, Windows programs
and deselected it.

Do I still need the patch?

The outlook express patch should be installed if you use IE even if you
don't use outlook express. The OE code that is updated is used by IE and
even Outlook. If you've seen talk of the MHT/CHM issue that some IE users
have apparently encountered, this update is the fix for that issue.

So, you should install the update if you use IE
