Place your cursor over the MyMoney icon. Single
click the right mouse button. From the resulting list,
move your cursor to the bottom, so that the
word "Properties" is highlighted. Click the left mouse
button. On the resulting informational window, look for
the entry that follows the words "Type of file". If that
entry is "Application", you will need to find the
application that created the file, and to use that
application to open the file. On the bright side, if the
file is an application, chances are good that it has been
created using one of the programs that are present on the
machine, making opening it simply a matter of time
wherein you try and open it with each program the machine
has (assuming it isn't encrypted). I'd start by looking
for money related programs (Excel etc)
If you are lucky, the type of file is not an
application, but rather a simple text document. You said
that it was too large for notepad to open. Word can
handle large text files, so you might try that. You can
download a free program "Textpad" that opens large text
files at
http://www.textpad.com/
