My firewall keeps telling me that "NT Kernel system may
have changed since the last time you opened it. Do you
want to allow it to access the internet?" And then when I
backtrace it, I get this IANA place, the Internet
Assigned Numbers Authority, who are these people and why
is my computer trying to send them something? Is this a
virus? Should I let it connect? Is it just trying to get
an update? Why didn't anyone ever tell me about this?

This looks like Nick's problem. On this ng below a few pages "XP Attack"
6/29/03. He traced this to an address, there is some good advice at this
post.

Post the complete report generated by your firewall. We can't identify this
precise traffic and application based on what you've posted. It may well be
multicast traffic probably IGMP and can be ignored...
