I'm not sure if my connection is considered "always on" since I still need to
connect similarly to when I had dial-up. I do have a personal firewall so I
feel comfortable about that. I don't use/never installed messenger.
I might try to reinstall SP2. It's just that there have been so many
complaints by people about using it with IE, that I hesitate to do so. Maybe
something happended between installing and uninstalling SP2 that it's
interrupting the sign out process. I wrote Microsoft about this same issue
so maybe they will have some suggestions as well, but thanks for the advice.
