I posted the following in the Windows XP General group, and did not have much luck
getting an answer to the problem. Please do not flame me for posting in this group as
well.

I am trying to run HiJackThis on a Windows XP SP2 Home Edition system, but a dialog box
pops up saying that the user does not have the permissions to run the software. The user
profile is for an administrator. I then booted into Safe Mode, looked at the Security
tab, and the user DOES have all permissions checked. I have not run into this problem
running HiJackThis on any other systems. I also copied and then ran that same copy of
HiJackThis on another Windows XP system today (HE SP1a) and had no problems running it.
Any ideas?

I assume you're copying HJT into a folder on the hard drive. If not, try
this. Otherwise, you've possibly got some malware that is breaking HJT.
I'd post in one of the HJT forums below since the experts there will
know what could cause the issue:

I'm not going to flame you for posting here, but I will suggest that
next time you crosspost and not multipost since it makes Usenet Life
better for all of us.

Boot into Safe Mode and run HijackThis there after trying your other
anti-spyware programs in Safe Mode.
