I have setup ICS for both of my pc (xp and 98)is up and
running fine but at the expense of disabling firewall
(zonealarm) at the host machine, only then can the client
machine access the network. Is there any setting I could
change so that both pc could get connected without
disabling firewall. For your info, I'm using NIC for both
machines and is not using any router or hub, cos is just
a simple setup.

Another thing is whenever I boot up my pc, I will get a
prompt for Zonealarm which go like this "ZA is waiting
for true vector to intialize, cancel?" Any idea why am I
having this prompt? (previously it doesn't)

you can enable the internet connection firewall, available in xp, it's under
the advanced tab in your connection properties.
there should be an option somewhere in ZA that allows you to set the machine
as an ICS/NAT gateway. I think it's under the advanced firewall settings.

Under internet security zone and trusted zone security,
below there's a advanced tab, when I click on it, there's
a few option given for general setting 1)allow uncommon
protocol at high security, 2)allow outgoing DNS/DHCP in
trusted zone on high setting, 3)allow outgoing DNS/DHCP
in internet zone on high setting. Which required us to
tick on the boxes to select. Is this the one?
There's another option under firewall zone "the host Lan
(xp) and Wan is inside this trusted zone" but the "client
Lan" (98) wasn't included in this zone, could it be this
reason which is why the 98 machine couldn't get connected
and share resources?

Mike, The Advanced tab on the Firewall section is the right one for
ICS, if you have ZAPro. I understand that the ZAFree might not
support ICS. Click on the link to the User Community Forums inside
your Help? icon at the top of the page you're on. The link is at the
bottom of the page in mine. Gurus there can help you with any
questions you may have. Good luck. charlie R
